The foundation for BrainPuzzles.com began on a Saturday many years ago at a family Christmas get-together when my Aunt Janet and Uncle David brought a metal Tavern Puzzle (Patience) with them to the gathering. The puzzle consisted of a set of metal rings with a metal shuttle down the middle of them that wasn't about to come apart easily. I, Seth Anderson, was thirteen at the time and found the puzzle to be quite a challenge. I began working the puzzle that evening in an attempt to accomplish the simply stated goal of 'remove the shuttle'. After several hours of 'getting close' with the end no where in site, I went to bed to contemplate the dilemma before me in a state of dreamland. Evidently, sometime in the night, the solution came to me, because the next day I started in on the puzzle as soon as I awoke. Before breakfast (surely Granpa's excellent Biscuits and Gravy) I had mastered the puzzle. By this time, the black metal had turned to a shiny silver color from the hours of polishing my hands had provided. That shiny silver is the look of a well played with puzzle.
In the years following, I came across dozens of different metal puzzles and each was a unique and exciting challenge. From this, a hobby of collecting disentanglement puzzles began, eventually evolving into the business you see here.
BrainPuzzles.com is a family business run by my wife Krista and myself (Seth Anderson). The vision we have for BrainPuzzles.com is for it to someday become the leading source of a large variety of metal and wire disentanglement puzzles, with the best customer service, and lowest prices on the internet !
So who's Mike from Mike's Puzzler you may ask? Mike is a great friend of the family. He is a professor at Huntington University, a Christian College in Huntington, IN, where he uses lateral thinking puzzles in his classroom (and he shares them with me to share with you!).
